Problem 1.The base of a rectangular factory is 4 times its width. The area of the rectangle is 256 square meters. Find the dimensions of the factory. (Author nº20)

Problem 1 solution

1º) First we observe that it is a geometry problem so we draw the data to understand the problem

2º) Knowing the formula of the area of the rectangle (base x height), we apply it.

(4x) (x) = 256;

4x²=256;

X²=256/4;

64m²;

M²=√64;

M=8

3º) Now we calculate how much the width and length of the rectangle is worth

-Length; (4)(8)=32m

-Width=8m

Solution: the width measures 8m and the length 32m
