Are you ready for the full-scale implementation of English Medium Instruction (EMI) in the Graduate School of Engineering, UTokyo, starting in 2026?
This lecture series is designed to support both faculty and students as they prepare for the transition to EMI. EMI
Request for Participation in a Survey on English-Medium Instruction (EMI)

Alongside the lecture series, we are conducting a set of surveys targeting faculty members, Japanese students, and international students. The goal is to better understand the current landscape of English-medium instruction (EMI) in our school and to identify areas where additional support may be needed.
We’ve prepared four separate surveys to explore: (1) Japanese students’ experiences with EMI and the types of support they feel they need, (2) international students’ experiences and perceptions of EMI, and (3) faculty members’ experiences teaching in English and the kinds of support that would be helpful.
Based on the survey results, we aim to build a support system that will help ensure a smooth and effective transition to EMI. We would greatly appreciate your cooperation.
