Title:
Tools that Enable Student Participation: Mentimeter and Slido
Abstract:
As the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo transitions toward English Medium Instruction (EMI), many faculty members face new challenges and opportunities in designing courses that foster active student engagement. This workshop invites instructors to reflect on their current teaching practices and explore how technology can support more interactive, student-centered learning.
Focusing on Mentimeter and Slido, the session will demonstrate practical ways to use these tools not only to check students’ understanding in English but also to promote meaningful participation and dialogue in large and small classes alike. Beyond introducing digital tools, this workshop aims to provide a space for educators to reconsider how their teaching practices can evolve to enhance communication and student learning in an EMI context.
