Our class has had a fantastic start! We are learning more about each other every day and finding ways to grow into a collaborative community of learners. This month, we are looking forward to cooler recess temperatures and fall festivities. We have swiftly moved through the first 9 weeks of the school year. Now that we have established routines and expectations, I will be helping students push for more independence. What does this look like in our classroom? Remembering to complete class jobs without being asked, keeping a clean desk, turning work in to the correct baskets, and solving small problems together.
*Please note that Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year. If you and your family celebrate this holiday, we will not be allowing costumes at school. I would also kindly request that you do not send candy as their snack. A few pieces sent with your student for lunch time will be fine!

Power Word: Each month we choose a word to focus on that will help us grow into well rounded young adults and community members. For October, we chose Empathy! Challenge your student to put themselves in someone else's shoes this month.

Birthday Celebrations: We are a nut free classroom. You may send a small treat with your student for their birthday. We do not interrupt our academic time to celebrate birthdays. Instead, we take a few moments at the end of the day to sing and enjoy a treat if provided.
