Upcoming Events
We have had a few date changes since our first calendars went out at the beginning of the year pertaining only to several of our Philharmonic and Chamber UIL preparation events. Philharmonic and Chamber students received new spring calendars the week after winter break. Prelude students will be receiving new updated calendars soon, but there have been so far no date or time changes to any upcoming Prelude events.
Tuesday 2/4 - Fiddle Club
Tuesday 2/4 - (recommended) Guyer Orchestra Pre-UIL Concert. 5:30 pm, GHS Auditorium. Students may receive accent points for attending the GHS concert.
Friday 2/7 - Philharmonic and Chamber UIL Clinic. Students will work with several guest teachers in small group sectional coachings and a group clinic.

- Chamber - 3:45-5:15
Tuesday 2/11 - Fiddle Club
Tuesday 2/18 - NO fiddle club
Tuesday 2/25 - Pre-UIL Concert - Philharmonic and Chamber only - 7:00 pm RCMS cafeteria
- We will have fiddle club after school but students participating in the concert may be exempt
- Prelude students may receive accent points for attending this concert
- Students may wear orchestra t-shirt and jeans for this performance
- All students arrive no later than 6:30 for tuning and warm-up
Friday, February 28 - UIL CONTEST - Philharmonic and Chamber
- Field trip during school day to contest (permission forms and detailed itinerary coming soon)
- Formal dress code required - students will wear or bring formal orchestra uniform to school
- Based on the time assignments we have just received, it looks like Chamber will not finish at the contest before the end of the school day. Begin preparing for alternate transportation home if you are a bus rider (detailed itinerary coming soon).
Future Events
Our next major events coming up will be related to the annual Solo & Ensemble Contest. All students will learn a solo and ensemble as a long-term project in orchestra class. Students will perform their solos and ensembles for their class at the end of the year for a major assessment grade. Students may choose to also perform their solos and ensembles at our annual RCMS Solo & Ensemble Recital and the DISD Solo & Ensemble Contest. Students will be receiving the forms linked below in early February and will need to register for this event by February 24 if they choose to participate.
Solo & Ensemble Recitals - Monday and Tuesday March 30-31 (students choose one night to perform on) - RCMS Orchestra Room 6:30 pm
Solo & Ensemble Contest - Saturday, April 4 - Calhoun Middle School
