(We will do at least 7 projects for the year. Each project will take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks long)
· Portfolio-- (<--click for examples) students will use Zentangle designs to create repeating patterns and a Zentangle name design in black and white
· Celtic Letter-- (<--click for examples) student will design an illuminated Letter based on the Celtic culture incorporating Celtic knotwork and designs
· Torn Paper Collage-- (<--click for examples) students will torn magazine paper to create a collage of a chosen product
· Still Life-- (<--click for examples) Students will demonstrate their ability draw from direct observation realistically and demonstrate their knowledge of value with shading techniques.
· Watercolor Flowers-- (<--click for examples) students will experiment with watercolor and create a watercolor flower inspired by the work of Georgia O’Keefe
· Principles of Art-- (<--click for examples) students will identify examples of the principles found in magazine images
· Fingerprint Portrait-- (<--click for examples) students will use an alternative media of ink pads to recreate Chuck Close inspired black and white large-scale portraits
· Pablo Picasso Portrait-- (<--click for examples) students will use Cubism techniques to create a self portrait in the style of Pablo Picasso
· Chalk Contour Shoe-- (<--click for examples) students will create a large contour drawing of their shoe in glue. Students will use color theory to fill in the shoe design
· Tessellation-- (<--click for examples) students will create an image to repeat in a tessellation in the style of MC Escher
· Watercolor Landscape-- (<--click for examples) students will draw a landscape and fill it with India Ink and then apply a watercolor background
· Clay Story Boards-- (<--click for examples) students create a graphic, sequential depiction of a narrative, in other words, a picture that tells a story on a flat piece of clay
· Watercolor Balloon Animal-- (<--click for examples) students will paint a balloon animal inspired by the work of Jeff Koons
· Claes Oldenburg Sculpture-- (<--click for examples) students will create enlarged structures of a pop art object using cardboard and paper mache’ and acrylic paint.
· Abstract Structures-- (<--click for examples) students will carve abstract structures from foam inspired by the works of Henry Moore
· La Loteria Cards-- (<--click for examples) students will complete oil pastel enlarged versions of the cards for the Mexican game of La Loteria
