(We will do at least 7 projects for the year. Each project will take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks long)
• Portfolio-- (<--click for examples) students create 2 images that represent themselves in some way and a unique name design
• Class Period Bin Design-- (<--click for examples) Students will create a design representative of their class period.
• Optical Art-- (<--click for examples) students black and white sharpie with geometric shapes in a Victor Vasarely style of art
• Printmaking-- (<--click for examples) students will print repeated images in acrylic paint from a design they have cut from foam sheets
• 1 pt. Perspective-- (<--click for examples) students use geometric and organic shapes to create a scene with perspective and a vanishing point
• Forced Perspective-- (<--click for examples) students will manipulate our human perception with the use of optical illusions to make objects appear larger, smaller, farther, or closer than they actually are.
• Arcimboldo Silhouette-- (<--click for examples) students fill their silhouettes with images that represent who they are and then color them using oil pastels, and then they paint a black watercolor wash over the entire image in a Giuseppe Arcimboldo style of art
• Greek Pottery Scratchboard-- (<--click for examples) Students will be introduced to the designs of Ancient Greek Pottery as they explore the use of geometric and organic shapes in making ordered patterns and depicting scenes from Greek Mythology.
• Clay-- (<--click for examples) Students will be able to construct a clay structure using different techniques and processes.
• Wayne Thiebaud Sweet Treats-- (<--click for examples) Students will create oil pastel desserts inspired by the works of Wayne Thiebaud
• Cropped Candy Still-Life-- (<--click for examples) Students will demonstrate their ability to draw realistically from direct observation and demonstrate their knowledge of value with their shading techniques.
• Watercolor City Silhouettes-- (<--click for examples) Students will draw city silhouettes from real skylines and fill them with India Ink. Students will then apply a watercolor background.
• Earth Art-- (<--click for examples) Students will create an earth art design inspired by the works of Andy Goldsworthy
• Textile Weaving-- (<--click for examples) students create woven tapestries with needles and looms in a Native American style of art
• Value Castles-- (<--click for examples) students use knowledge of value and placement to create depth in a realistic castle drawing using 3D forms
• Sea Life/Jungle Life-- (<--click for examples) students use mixed media to create a real-life depiction of sea life/jungle life
• Colored Optical Art-- (<--click for examples) students use color theory to create an op art triptych
