(We will do at least 7 projects for the year. Each project will take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks long)
· Class Period Bin Design-- (<--click for examples) Students will create a design representative of their class period.
· B/W Contrast-O-- (<--click for examples) Students will create a black and white image using 2-layer film where they will cut away areas of black to expose the white underneath using an X-Acto knife.
· WC Selfie-- (<--click for examples) Students will trace a photo of their face with masking liquid. They will apply and watercolor background and then peel away the masking liquid to reveal a positive/negative portrait.
· Kandinsky-- (<--click for examples) Students will demonstrate abstract expressionism using chalk pastel and feelings associated with musical choices.
· Portfolio -- (<--click for examples) students create a collage representing themselves with Flash Art techniques and images that represent themselves in some way
· Repousse-- (<--click for examples) students use metalworking technique in which a soft, thin metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side in a Greek style of art
· Clay Containers-- (<--click for examples) students create a clay vessel of various sizes using the coil method
· ASL Hands-- (<--click for examples) students create a word using American Sign Language contour/outline hands with construction paper crayons on black paper
· Pop Art-- (<--click for examples) students create Pop Art where the attention is focused upon familiar images of the popular culture such as: Mass Produced Products, Celebrities, or Comics on a canvas
· Metamorphosis-- (<--click for examples) students transform one item into a similar object through a series of changes
· Henna Hands-- (<--click for examples) students will use and zentangle designs to create repeating patterns used in celebrations in Indian and Arabic styles of art
· Watercolor Animal Silhouette-- (<--click for examples) students will draw a realistic animal and it’s living environment, and then fill it with watercolor. Students will mount their work on a background
· Dia de los Muertos Calavera-- (<--click for examples) students will draw a stylized version of a skull with appropriate pattern from the Mexican culture in honor of Dia de los Muertos
