Strong device management in the classroom doesn’t start with the device—it starts with clear, consistent classroom expectations. When expectations are established first, technology becomes a tool for learning rather than a distraction. Students need to understand when, why, and how devices should be used, as well as what responsible and respectful use looks like in your classroom. By setting these norms early and reinforcing them often, teachers create a structured environment where devices support engagement, collaboration, and productivity instead of competing for attention.

Securly Classroom is coming to Comal ISD in August 2026, bringing a powerful new way for teachers to manage and support student device use in real time. This classroom device management tool helps teachers keep students focused and engaged by providing visibility into student screens, the ability to guide learning by opening or closing tabs, and tools to quickly redirect off-task behavior.

With Securly Classroom, teachers can monitor student activity, share resources instantly, lock screens when attention is needed, and provide timely feedback—all from their own device. It also supports a proactive approach to classroom management by allowing teachers to set clear digital boundaries and reinforce expectations without interrupting instruction.

• Elementary students will have access to a Chromebook in their classroom cart.

• Elementary students do not take Chromebooks home.

• Organize carts by color and/or numbers.

• Elementary teachers will assign students a Chromebook to consistently use to teach responsibility and acceptable use.

• Secondary students are issued a Chromebook. Students are expected to bring their device daily and maintain charging. Teachers will need to set classroom expectations for Chromebook use.

• Classrooms are equipped with charging stations with 2 spare devices. The spare devices are to be used by students in need due to lack of device or charge, and must stay in the classroom. Labeling your classroom devices with your room number is best practice (silver sharpie or label). 

• The campus librarian or 1:1 support staff (HCCPHS and MECHS) are your GO TO staff on all things 1:1.
