In Toccoa and the surrounding area, there are three different elementry schools- Big A Elementry, Liberty Elementry, and Toccoa Elementry. There is only one middle school (Stephen's Country Middle School) and one high school (Stephan's Country High School). There is also a univerity in Toccoa called Toccoa Falls College, which enrolls about 2500 students every year.
There are a variety of recreation and cultural spaces in and around Toccoa. The Southern Baptist Convention Center was a big draw to the town for many years, and in 2022 it was converted into a summer camp called Pine Cove Springs. Many families from the town send their kids to this camp, as well as many families across the southeast.
Another example of a cultural space in the area is the Toccoa Speedway. This dirt speedway has been around for many years, and it hosts races that draw the comminuty together.
Toccoa Resident's take great pride in their communities culture and history, showcased in the town's public artwork and murals.
Toccoa is celebrating 150 years of heritage this year! They celebrated with a three-day carnival in August and a Tugalo Street Greenspace. They also have Annual Harvest Festival every year with live entertainment, car shows, games, art shows, food, and more. Toccoa also host seasonal events like holiday parades and music festivals to bring their community together and draw in visitors.
There are many historical buildings to showcase the town's history to create a sense of pride and belonging for residents and visitors. Main historical attractions include Currahee Military Museum, Toccoa Falls, and the Historic Downtown District.
Toccoa tends to have a more social atmosphere with people commonly gathering with others in their community for festivals, parades, high school sports, church event, and other shared activities. This strong sense of community is especially evident in the area surrounding downtown Toccoa.
Churches, local cafes and restaurants, downtown Toccoa, and other local public spaces such as the local library or parks are common meeting grounds for residents.
