Assessing the diversity and population characteristics of the community in Toccoa.
By observance, the town of Toccoa appears to be home to a variety of ages. With three elementary schools and one middle and high school, the population of children ages 5-18 compromises about a third of Toccoa's total population, according to the Toccoa chamber of commerce. Something to consider, however, is that these five schools are the only schools in the entire county, which includes the population that lives outside of the city limits and thus is not counted as a part of the population of Toccoa town. The downtown boasts multiple attorney offices, salons, two banks, a newspaper, and local shops and antique malls.
Toccoa was officially founded in 1874 in the aftermath of the civil war. It is a predominantly white community.

The community feels relatively evenly distributed, with a larger concentration of residential areas surrounding the main road, Big A Road (yes, that is what it is called), and immediantly outside of Toccoa's downtown area. Schools are on the outskirts of town farther from downtown, commerical and manufacturing discricts, and churches. Since schools are so large it would make sense that they would be farther away so that there is enough space to build them.
There is a population density of 22.69 people per square miles for the entire micropolitian area of Toccoa, which is all of Stephens county.
