Toccoa is located in Stephens Country, Georgia and lies among the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is bordered by Lake Hartwell and contains Toccoa River and Toccoa Falls (as pictured), giving Toccoa a very diverse terrain that is primary hilly. These stunning views make Toccoa the perfect spot for fishing, kayaking, hiking, sightseeing, and so many more recreational activities. This landscape makes Toccoa a must see by nature lovers and is easily accessible by car, given the proper navigation. There are well-connected roadways as well that make traveling around Toccoa and accessing services/activities straightforward. Additionally, Stephans County Transit Authority runs public transportation buses, allowing residents and visitors to access local business, downtown, schools, parks, health care facilities, and more.

Toccoa has a humid subtropical climate, consisting of mild winters and warm, humid summers. This climate and weather heavily influences Toccoa's daily life, placing an emphasis on agriculture and outdoor activities.

Weather

Toccoa has faced a few weather related challenges including flooding due to its proximity to rivers and lakes as well as droughts due the hot weather that have significant impacts on water resources and agriculture.

Since summers can be hot and humid, heat-related illnesses such as dyhydration and heartstroke aren't uncommon. Springtime also brings a high pollen count, which can trigger allergies.

Toccoa is approxiamtely 45 miles from Athens GA, 50 miles from Greenville, SC, and 90 miles from Atlanta, GA.

There are a variety of ways to get to Toccoa, GA. Toccoa has become recently more accessible by car with the addition of the new Highway 17 expansion also known the Currahee Parkway, connecting much of Habersham and Stephens Counties. Toccoa's Amtrak station allows people to arrive by train and runs all the way from New Orleans to New York City. There is also Toccoa Airport that allows for small jets to pass through.

The majority of roads in Toccoa are well-paved and maintained, making travel around town easy and reliable.
