Enrichment at Barking & Dagenham College is a key part of student life, offering fun opportunities beyond academics.
Through activities, clubs, workshops, trips and volunteering, we provide a space to relax, build friendships and develop skills. Our diverse programme includes sports, mental health, creative arts, student forums and more, all designed to enhance your personal, moral, social and cultural development. At the Thrive Hub, we aim to cultivate a positive and respectful atmosphere where all learners can thrive and excel in their social, moral, cultural, health and wellbeing personal development pursuits. To achieve this, it is essential that everyone adheres to the following behavioural expectations:
RESPECT: Treat fellow learners, staff and the environment with dignity and respect.
RESPONSIBILITY: Take ownership of your actions and their impact on others and the learning environment.
SAFETY: Ensure the safety and well-being of yourself and others by following all safety protocols and guidelines.
COOPERATION: Collaborate with others in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork, fostering a supportive learning community.
Attendance and Punctuality: Attend classes and activities punctually and be aware of the importance of regular attendance for academic success.
ENGAGEMENT: Actively participate in learning activities and discussions, demonstrating a commitment to your academic and personal growth.
COMMUNICATION: Communicate openly and respectfully with staff and peers, addressing concerns or issues in a constructive manner.
HONESTY: Own up to any behavioural indiscretions.
EATING RESTRICTIONS: Eating is currently permitted but if you do not clear up after yourselves, we will remove this privilege.
BEVERAGES: Drinking soft drinks and water is allowed in all areas of the Thrive Hub.
CCTV MONITORING: The area has CCTV and if necessary, we will access it to ensure this behavioural policy is being followed.
FURNITURE USAGE: The furniture is provided for your comfort, but if we find you are set to damage or destroy, mark up, or engage in any other behaviour deemed as antisocial, you will be banned indefinitely.
TAMPERING RESTRICTIONS: The staff members will set up and ensure everything is ready for you to enjoy this great social area. However, tampering with lights, screens, TVs, breaking or losing board game pieces, stealing, etc., will result in a ban from the Thrive Hub.

Act as positive role models for all learners, demonstrating empathy, kindness and integrity in your interactions
Take initiative in resolving conflicts peacefully and constructively, seeking support from staff when needed
Participate actively in initiatives and activities aimed at promoting a culture of respect, such as peer mentoring programs and community service projects
Verbal Warning: A verbal reminder of the expected behaviour and its importance in maintaining a positive learning environment
Written Warning: A formal written warning documenting the specific behavior and outlining the consequences of further violations
Temporary Suspension: Temporary removal from the Thrive Hub or specific activities for a designated period, allowing time for reflection and corrective action
Probation: Continued non-compliance may result in probation, with specific conditions outlined for improvement
Permanent Thrive Hub Exclusion: In cases of serious or repeated offenses, permanent exclusion from the Thrive Hub may be necessary to maintain the safety and well-being of the learning community
Anyone caught fighting will receive a ban from the Thrive Hub and Written Warning.
Smoking OR Vaping is not permitted and will result in an instant ban.
