A fast-food chain aims to serve customers as quickly as possible. According to the survey results, in order to achieve this goal, employees believe that they are given workloads that are too heavy for them. Aside from that, their rest time between shifts is insufficient, and they are not allowed to sit or be idle during work hours. This situation is an example of role overload, a work hindrance stressor that occurs when the number of roles a person holds exceeds their capacity. It negatively affects their physical and mental well-being by inducing stress, reducing motivation and job satisfaction which, if left unaddressed, can lead to both physiological and psychological strains.
Our bodies perform best when they receive the nutrition they need. While Jollibee provides food for its employees, the limited menu lacks nutritional variety, as reflected in the survey results. Repeated consumption of fast food can lead to health complications. This does not fulfill the employees’ physiological needs in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, making it a weakness that negatively impacts their physical well-being.
