Interested in the newest all-girl sport to join East? Come to the STUNT Tryout Information Meeting on December 17th in the FZE Library from 5:30-6:30
STUNT is the newest all-girl sport being added to East! STUNT is a 4-quarter game that is played head-to-head against another team. Teams learn up to 6 routines for each of the quarters (getting as far in difficulty as they can) and compete the same routine as the team they are playing. You play 4 of the 6 plays in a game (can repeat plays if needed), with your team choosing 2 and the opposing team choosing 2. The team with the fewest deductions/modifications for each play wins a point. There are 4 points total for quarters 1-3, followed by quarter 4: team routine (9 pts). The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!
Quarter 1: Partner Stunts
These are 4-person group stunts
2 stunt groups (8 cheerleaders) on the mat at a time for routines 1-3
1 stunt group (4 cheerleaders) on the mat at a time for routines 4-6
The lowest level routine requires preps, half-ups, and quick tosses.
The highest level routine requires heel stretches, high-level inversions, and dismounts
Quarter 2: Pyramids & Tosses
There are up to 8 cheerleaders in the pyramid and basket toss routines
Quarter 3: Jumps & Tumbling
There are 8 cheerleaders in the jumps and tumbling routines
The lowest level routine requires a forward roll or a back walkover.
The highest level routine requires back tucks.
Quarter 4: Team Routine
This is a combination of Partner Stunts, Jumps & Tumbling, and Pyramids & Tosses
STUNT Quarter Point System
Attendance– Students are strongly encouraged to attend all meetings, lectures, and practices held in conjunction with spring tryouts. (March 2nd-6th)
MSHSAA Academics– All students trying out for STUNT must meet the academic requirements.
You must be passing 6 of your 7 classes to be academically eligible.
MSHSAA Physical Form– must be completed and on the athletic department's registration site before an athlete is eligible to try out. https://students.arbitersports.com/organizations/fort-zumwalt-east-high-school
Team size will be determined by the coaches following MSHSAA and USA Cheer recommendations.
The minimum number of athletes to compete in STUNT is 8 per team.
STUNT is not like sideline cheerleading, where all cheerleaders will do every quarter of the game. Instead, it is more similar to other sports, where players are selected to be first string for specific quarters and second string for others.
Financial Obligations must be met to be part of the team.
STUNT is less expensive when compared to sideline & competitive cheerleading!
Required purchases– White cheer shoes, ponytails, sports bra, water bottle, bag, etc., unless owned!
New Squad & Guardian Meeting – $2 must be paid in cash
Code of Conduct expectations must be met for the entirety of the time you are affiliated with the STUNT program. Includes requirements for hairstyles, no dip/gel/acrylic/etc nails, no jewelry at any time, and more.
Attendance at ALL practices and games is required during the season (March - May)
Tryout candidates will need to have reliable transportation for the entire season.

New piercings during your time as a cheerleader are discouraged. It will prevent you from stunting and tumbling at any of the practices/games until you are able to remove the jewelry.

DEAD WEEK: February 23rd-27th -- an "off" week of no communication or events from the program the week before tryouts!
If you’ve made the team, attend the New Squad and Guardians Meeting on Monday, March 9th, at 5:30-6:30 pm in the FZE library.
Bring a guardian! (Yes, even if you’ve been in the program already!)
Bring a computer! Everything we are setting up is easier to do on a computer.
Get set up with the resources needed for the program
Athletes are required to attend 14 practices before they are eligible to participate in a game.
The first 5 practices are tryout week!
14 practices are not enough time to learn 6 routines for 3 different quarters, so it is important to attend as many of the pre-season practices as possible.
These practices are MANDATORY! Monday–Friday
Expect a practice or game every weekday during the season
Practices will range from workshops for stunting, jumping, or tumbling to regular weight training in the school weight room.
Our regular practices will immediately follow the MSHSAA practices and are also MANDATORY!
Several sports and activities practice at the same time we do. We cannot recommend that you participate in both activities, as you will not be able to complete either season.
All players are required to attend every game.
If you’re participating in another sport/club/activity, you need to get your schedules to both coaches/sponsors ASAP and keep everyone updated at all times!
We will do our best to be as flexible as the sport allows.
