Onward

Onward is a year-long course beginning in June 2023 and ending in May 2024, and it is based on the book written by Elena Aguilar, designed to cultivate emotional resilience in educators. Using the book and accompanying workbook, we will engage in a book-club style professional development offering that will meet once a month for the duration of the 2023-24 school year. We’ll discuss dispositions such as empowerment, courage, and trust. Our meetings will be low-prep and low-pressure discussions about the chapter of the month along with engaging activities from the book.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: All interested FUHSD staff, including teachers, counselors, therapists, classified staff, administrators, and more!

DURATION: June 2023 to May 2024 (12 sessions). Participants are expected to attend one meeting per month at their school site

DATES: June 15, 2023 and July 13,2023 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm; meetings August – May will be during lunch and extended into 6th or 7th period depending on the site. Participants are expected to attend during lunch (lunch provided) and may choose to stay during the last period of the day.
