The mission of this course is to reimagine classroom, school, and district systems in order to disrupt inequities within FUHSD. In this course, we define inequity as patterns of student outcomes (e.g. sense of belonging, community engagement, grades, course enrollment) that are predictable based on students’ identities.
In order to achieve our mission, the course aims to unlock participants’ agency and empowerment to:
Engage in deep inquiry around an equity problem by consulting relevant literature, gathering and analyzing data, and engaging in discussion and reflection all with support along the way.
Work with a coach to determine next steps and implications for the community.
Build collaborative partnerships within EiA! and/or their contexts to effect systemic change.
Strategically share their work with stakeholders: staff, admin, parents, students, and others!
Who should participate in EiA!?
Anyone in any role (including classified and certificated staff as well as administrators) who is passionate about taking action towards achieving equity! Having engaged with topics around equity and social justice (within or outside of FUHSD) is helpful. However, your passion and commitment to changing systems for more equitable outcomes is what is most important.
