Reporting an Absence
Please email your child’s teacher or call the ELC office to report your child’s absence. 904-827-2835 (V or Text) or 904-506-0667 (VP)
If your child is absent for an extended period of time due to an illness (more than 3 days), please provide a note from a doctor upon returning to school.
If your child is absent from school due to a surgical procedure or hospitalization, please provide a note from the doctor stating that your child is cleared to return to school - this will need to be sent/given to the Health Care Center.
If your child will be absent from school for an extended period of time for any other reason, please let your child’s teacher or the ELC office know the dates s/he will be out.
Medications
If your child needs daily medication, an antibiotic or a breathing treatment during school hours, please give the medicine to your child’s bus chaperone or directly to HCC staff. The medication must be in its original container and clearly marked with your child’s name and dosage information. Please DO NOT send medication to school in your child’s backpack. It could be easily overlooked and not dispensed.
ELC staff is not permitted to dispense medication. ALL medicine, prescription or over-the-counter, must be kept and dispensed in the Health Care Center.
First Aid
All ELC staff members (and FSDB staff) are trained in CPR and basic First Aid. If a child’s injury requires more than basic First Aid, the child will be taken to the Health Care Center (HCC). There, HCC staff will assess the child and contact parents/caregivers notifying you that your child was seen in the HCC and has either been sent back to class or needs to be picked up. Depending on the severity of the illness or injury, you may be asked to bring a note from a doctor clearing your child to return to school.
In case of an emergency, 911 will be called and your child will be transported to the hospital by ambulance.
