My name is Ashlei Funtjar and I am a special education SAIL teacher at Smith Elementary.  This is my twelfth year teaching, my eighth year at Smith and in SAIL.  I started my teaching career for 3 years in Columbus, Ohio.  I received my bachelor’s degree in education and my  master’s degree in special education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family.  My fiance’s name is Gary and we have a 2.5 year old daughter named Charlei Mae.  We have two cats, Leonard and Penny. I am excited for another year at Smith! 

My name is Sydney Marchbanks and I am a SAIL special education teacher at Smith Elementary. This will be my fourth year teaching. I received my bachelor’s degree in Human Sciences from Texas Tech and am currently working on my master’s degree in special education. When I am not working, I am more than likely spending time with my family or friends. I have a dog, Cooper, who is my fur baby! I am beyond excited for my second year at Smith Elementary. 

My name is Deb Fleming and I am a Special Ed. Para in the SAIL Program. This is my 16th year at Smith both as a resource para and a SAIL para. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Miami University in Ohio and my Master of Social Work from THE Ohio State University. I’ve been married for 30 years to my husband Dave, and have 2 daughters who went to Smith, Gaby (25) and Natalie (22), who just got married to my new son-in-law, Steven. When I'm not at Smith, I love to read, travel, watch sports, play pickleball, and spend time with my family and friends. I love to watch the students grow and am so excited to begin another year at Smith.

My name is Josefina Barrera. I am a Paraprofessional in SAIL (Social and Interpersonal Learning) program. I am married for 30 years, have two children; Jonathan 28 years old. and Christopher 25. I been working for FISD in Special Education for 17 years. I attended Cerritos College in California. Worked in Nuffer Elementary for 3 years in Norwalk La Mirada Unified School District. When I am not working, I like to spend time with my family watching movies, or shows, going out to eat with my family, like to write songs, sing, volunteer at church and gardening. Thank you for trusting your children to us.

My name is Jennifer Melton, and I am a Special Ed Para in the SAIL program. This will be my 4th year in Frisco ISD at Smith Elementary. Prior to that I was a Smith parent for 13 straight years so you can imagine how much I LOVE Smith. I have a Bachelor of Business - Marketing degree from Texas Tech University. I have been married to my husband Lauren for 24 years. I have 4 kids who all attended Smith - Cassidy (22), Summer (20), Zoe (16) and Tanner (14). My two younger kids are very active in football, basketball, and soccer so much of our time is spent watching their games. Besides spending time with my family, I also love reading, working out and watching movies. I can’t wait for another exciting school year!

Hi! My name is Kyndra Daigneault and I am a Paraprofessional in the SAIL program at Smith Elementary. This will be my 8th year in Frisco ISD. I love being at Smith and I am excited for the 2023-24 school year! I also love animals. I have a cat name Lady Cat, and a rabbit named Leonardo DiCaprio. Outside of work I love to spend time with family and friends. I love to watch movies, pet sit, organize, and volunteer as well. I enjoy being at Smith very much and I am excited to work with the whole Smith family!
