2.1 Plans with teachers in collaborative meetings and individually to design technology enhanced learning experiences.
I am in collaborative planning with teachers regularly. Sometimes, I am there to help find places that could naturally be enhanced with technology, helping teachers see where they are already including Future Ready Skills/guiding teachers in infusing the language and skills, brainstorming for upcoming projects, and/or actually working on a project together.
This year at Wester, I have been getting to know the teachers. Many of my meetings with teachers were more along the lines of brainstorming sessions, helping with eSchool, Eduphoria, Email, and Google functionality. With Canvas next year, I am excited to help them dive deeper into technology, beyond functionality.
This year at Lawler, we were all new! The dynamic was very different from Wester, because the school was brand new and we were piloting Canvas. My work with teachers was mostly around Canvas. teachers worked through the Badge course on their own and then I met with them to discuss progress, check for understanding, and help them take Canvas functionality and tools further!
I was not as organized in getting to collaborative plannings as I would have liked. I allowed teachers to simply send me a calendar invitation for when they would like to have me come think with them. This being my first year at both schools in this position, I felt that building the relationship with my teachers before pushing my way into more collaborative plannings was more important. My goal for next year is to be on a rotating schedule so that my presence is expected more regularly. I hope that the relationships I have built this year will help this not feel forced for my teachers.
2.2 Communicates with teams and teachers outside of planning times to inform, advocate and promote technology enhanced learning experiences.
Each month, I send a newsletter out to teachers to highlight our teachers who are doing great things in their classrooms, encourage conversation around a topic in Ed Tech, and I share relevant tools they can use to enhance the learning in their classrooms. In addition to the newsletter, I regularly send teachers updates, ideas, tips, tricks, and examples of ways teachers are infusing technology and the future ready skill in their classrooms. These smaller chunks of information are via email, one-on-one conversations, social media, and in meetings.
Next Year, I'd like to increase my Twitter presence, continue to build upon and improve my newsletter, and develop an email series of simple tips. I am still in the brainstorming phase, but I have been looking into some ideas around Canvas since both of my schools will be using it next year.
2.3 Builds capacity of teachers in their use of technology enhanced learning experiences through co-teaching, modeling and coaching.
By far, my most successful Tweet! I shared my interactive Google Classroom vs. Canvas graphic and have gotten a wonderful response!
I build capacity by co-creating, co-teaching, and sharing resources with my teachers! The 5C program has provided me with guidance in helping teachers infuse technology into their lessons. I have worked very closely with one teacher this year, who earned all of her badges and her Chromebook, to build her tech-infusion skills. We worked on the first badge together very closely, but the rest she has been able to take the lead. Our meetings about her 5C lessons have opened up conversation opportunities and allowed me to help her set goals for future lessons. One of the biggest changes I have seen in her is her ability to think outside the classroom in order to reach the higher levels of SAMR.
At Lawler, we piloted Canvas in the first semester. I created a course with phases and badges to help motivate and guide my teachers in their learning in Canvas.
I hope to transition from our teacher learning courses in canvas to more of a Staff Hub for each school, which includes training, but that can also become our campus' one-stop-shop, which is our ultimate reason for migrating to Canvas for students and parents.
