Medical Conditions
Today's school nurses care for students with many difficult medical conditions. Injections, breathing treatments, catheterizations, tube feedings, trach suctioning, and basic health monitoring are just some of the tasks performed in a school clinic.
If your child has a medical condition, please let me know. Plans will be made for medication administration, special procedures, and other accommodations to help keep your child in attendance as much as possible and safe while at school.
**The School Clinic is not a Primary Care Office or Urgent Care**
The school nurse provides first aid and medical care mainly for illnesses or injuries that occur at school during the school day. The nurse is qualified to collaborate with you and your child's physician to provide an educational environment where your child can learn and thrive.
The nurse does not make medical diagnoses nor prescribe treatments or medications but can provide treatments and medications as prescribed by a physician with a doctor's order.
When in doubt go to your doctor.
