Setting up a Moodle Forum

The follow steps will guide you how to set up a forum at Moodle

1. From your Moodle Course, choose "Turn editing on"

2. Choose “Add an activity or resource” under the topic.

3. Choose “Forum”, then choose “Add”

4. Add Forum name.

5. Editing settings, e.g.:

  • Forum type (There are 5 forum types)

  • Subscription and tracking

6. Choose “Save and display”.

**For Single Simple discussion, you can add the question directly at the Forum name and description. If you have chosen other forum types, you would need to add discussion topics.

7. To add discussion topic, choose “Add a new topic”

8. Editing the “Subject” add “Message” of your discussion topic, and edit display period (optional).

9. Choose “Post to forum” . The forum and discussion topic has been set up.

  • To response to the forum discussion, click the name of the forum and choose the discussion topic that you want to reply to, then click on “reply”.
