Quick start guide of Google Earth

Create a project

• Click on "Create"

• Select "Create project in Google Drive"

Edit project information

• Click on the icon to edit

• Then you can edit the title and description

Search to add place

Common places will be shown in the result.

1. Search a common place

2. Click "add to project" if you would like to add the place

3. You can click "Edit place" if you want to edit the information

or

4. You can click "Save" directly, the information provided in the internet will be shown in the information box

Add placemark

To create own placemark

1. Click on the icon

2. Point at the map and select a location

3. Add the title

4. You can edit the information by click "Edit place"

or

5. You can "save" the placemark directly and edit later

Edit the feature

Edit the information of the placemark, including...

• edit title

• add description

• upload image or video (from local device/ Google search/ Google Drive/ Google photos/ YouTube/ URL)

• size of info box (small, large or no info box)

• customize the placemark and label text (size and color)

• capture the view of the placemark

How to adjust the view on the map

• Move around: click and drag with mouse left-click button

• Zoom in/ out: click and drag with mouse right-click button

• Rotate to look around: click and drag with mouse central button

Draw line or shape

To create a route or draw a shape on the map

1. Click on the icon

2. Select a starting point on the map and continue the drawing

3. Press "enter" to save the line

4. Edit the information of the shape/ line (eg. title, description, image, video, placemark, color of the line, or the view on the map)

Measure the distance/ area

1. Click on the icon

2. Move and tap on the map

3. When finish, press "enter"
