Dress Code
We want to represent the school and ourselves with dignity. We want to be worthy of the respect of our audience. The bottom line is “class.” Dress and behave like a professional.
The FRHSD provides marching band uniforms for all band students. The uniforms are cleaned once a year (at the end of the school year) in preparation for the following year. Students should be prepared to clean excessively soiled uniforms. Fittings will take place during band camp. Students are financially responsible for the welfare and well-being of his/her uniform. Uniforms have the same value as a custom-tailored men’s suit. Other uniform modes of dress will be required of the student, see below.

Students may not participate in a field show performance without their full uniform, described above.
Students are encouraged to wear their t-shirts on game/performance days. There may be days in which students are required to wear their shirts during the school day as part of a school function.
It is the student’s responsibility to keep the uniform clean and in good condition. If it becomes excessively soiled, it is the student’s responsibility to see that it is dry-cleaned. Keep your hanger!
At the conclusion of each performance day, students will hang up the uniform properly. Students will be responsible for passing uniform inspection before being allowed to leave a marching band performance.
You should bring a fresh/clean t-shirt, socks, gloves and deodorant to each performance.
Your trousers (pants) should not ever drag on the ground. If your heel is stepping on your trouser leg, please ask a student leader to adjust your suspenders.
Never wear an incomplete uniform in public.
Sunglasses, jewelry and other accessories are not permitted while in uniform.
Before and after each marching band event, students will use the gender-appropriate, school restrooms to change into and out of their uniforms.
Band members should make sure that they do not leave uniform parts, personal items, coat hangers or trash in the restrooms.
Students may not exchange or replace uniform pieces without the director’s permission. If you have a uniform fitting problem see the director as soon as possible. Do not make any uniform changes without permission.
Band members should use masking tape to label the inside of the uniform with his/her last name.
Uniform Inspection
Before leaving after a performance all students will present their uniforms to a member of the uniform crew for inspection at the doorway to the storage area.
The shako, in its box, must be returned to the shako crew.
The trousers need to be hung on the hanger
Seams meeting properly, creases creased
Waistline side of the folded pant on the forward side of the hanger
The weight of the pants should be balanced so they don’t drop off the hanger.
Jacket should be hung, stripes forward, zipper in the back and clipped. The issued hanger is designed to mimic the natural shape of shoulders.
The trousers and jacket need to be put in the uniform bag. Note: the hanger is slid through the opening at the top of the bag.
Marching shoes may be kept in the rear compartment (never in the cubbies). Keep your shoes from year to year!
Students will be sent to the back of the line upon failing uniform inspection. It is not uncommon for a first year marcher to fail, sometimes more than once. An upperclassman should not have trouble passing uniform inspection on the first attempt.
If it becomes known that a student has left before he/she was dismissed or if the student fails to have their uniform inspected, the student will be charged with an unexcused absence.
