Attendance at ALL performances and rehearsals is mandatory.
Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory for credit. An absence will only be excused for the following reasons: illness, injury, death in family, or a school-related conflict. Students may not accrue more than 3 excused absences / marking period.
If unable to fulfill a commitment, the student must fill out the appropriate request form - Excused Absence Form - https://forms.gle/C2fRUne3kWUWXsJw9 and have a parent sign/acknowledge it. This form is due forty-eight (48) hours before the scheduled absence. If the form is not submitted within this time, the student will be charged with an “unexcused absence.” Any absence not brought to the attention of the director for approval prior to the commitment date will be considered “unexcused”.
Students must attend any and all dress rehearsals. If the student fails to attend the dress rehearsal, they will receive a failing grade and may not perform.
An unexcused absence carries a penalty of a zero (0) for that day’s activity (rehearsal or performance) and an additional ten (10) points off the student’s final marking period grade. Only in cases of extreme emergency or extreme illness will a student be excused from a performance.
For students participating in an extracurricular fashion, three (3) unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the ensemble.
Unapproved lateness to Music Department functions will not be tolerated. Any student who desires to be excused for part of a rehearsal must follow the same procedure as above and fill out the appropriate excuse form.
Any student who fails to receive approval for a tardy will have points deducted from that day’s activity grade. Upon the third late, the student will be charged with an unexcused absence.
Be on the REMIND and link up to the Music Dept Google Calendar.
Regular attendance in this class is necessary and required to receive credit in the course. All FRHSD Policies regarding absences and credit withdrawal will be enforced
In the event of an emergency (illness, etc.), a note from a parent must be submitted to/contact made with the director within forty-eight (48) hours. The note must explain why the student failed to attend or was late. All absences will be considered unexcused unless the appropriate form is completed (or in the event of an emergency, a note is received). A lack of communication from either student or parent will result in an “unexcused absence”.
The above attendance policy is strictly enforced!
