Hello Patriot Nation!
Sending you warm greetings from the health office, we wanted to say hello and discuss a few points about the health office.
It is imperative that your contact information on the Genesis Parent Portal is up to date. We communicate by email most of the time, however, if your child is actually injured or ill, we will call you. All emergency contacts must be in the Genesis Parent Portal. The health office will not release a student to anyone that is not listed as an emergency contact. All emergency contacts must be over 18 and cannot be a sibling that attends high school.
Please be sure to email both nurses if there are any new medical concerns/ updates to your child's health throughout the school year.
If your child has a life threatening allergy, Asthma, Diabetes, Addison's Disease, or Seizures, the required paperwork MUST be submitted no later than the first week of school. We start accepting all medication forms for the following school year in June. If your child requires any emergency medication they MUST carry it on them at all times (before/after school, on the bus, in school, all sports, trips, proms, all school related activities). Without the required paperwork and the medication on hand, they cannot attend trips, proms, and it will prevent them from participation in sports. This is for their safety. As an option you may leave extra emergency medication in the health office.
For any other medication (daily or as needed) we require a doctor's order on our school medication form. Please email the nurses if you need this form. *We need a doctor's order for over the counter medication (example: Tylenol). All medication forms must be renewed each school year and the medication must be brought in the original container and cannot be expired.
For your child to be excused from gym, we need a doctor's note. It must state, the injury or diagnosis, a length of time or the next appointment date. If it states "until further notice" we will only give two weeks. The health office cannot excuse your child from gym participation.
Due to changes in the health office due to COVID19, the health office restroom is limited to students that are in quarantine. In addition, the cots/medical beds in the health office are to be used for quarantine students. Other visits in the health office are limited to ten minutes. If students feel they cannot return to class after ten minutes, a parent/guardian will be called to discuss the decision of going back to class or getting picked up within a reasonable time frame.
Students are ALWAYS allowed to call a parent. We are happy to speak to you and welcome phone calls and emails regarding your child. Our goal is safety and to assist in keeping your child as healthy as possible.
We do not send ill or injured students home on the bus. They must be picked up before 3pm by a parent/guardian or an adult listed as an emergency contact in the Genesis Parent Portal.
