Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)

Wanting to go to college and interested in the military but don't know which to do first? ROTC is the perfect blend of both options. While pursuing a 4 year bachelors degree, you can also engage in Officer Training so that when you graduate you have a bachelors degree and accept a commission as an officer. You take several military courses each semester and engage in activities throughout each year as you work towards graduation. Two and Four year scholarships are available too! Interested students should begin looking at and working towards these scholarships in the spring of their Junior year. The University of Wyoming offers both Army and Air Force ROTC - to learn more, visit:

The Academies

There are five Military Academies in the United States. Each academy trains students to become officers while earning a 4 year bachelors degree. The admissions process is extensive and highly competitive, so PLEASE visit with your counselor by the spring of your junior year! You have to have a congressional appointment, which means interviewing in Casper during the fall of senior year, plus extensive paperwork! It's all worth it, but don't leave it until the last minute! Check out the following academy websites by clicking on them below:

How do you get in?

Every candidate must pass the following:

      • Physical

      • Fitness Test
