Engineering Classes: Boat design is a culminating activity for our transportation unit. Students use the Engineering Design Process as they work in teams to design, build, and test sailboat prototypes. A variety of skills are used to accomplish this task including written communication, orthographic projection, troubleshooting and teamwork.
FRIENDS of the FALCON: The Friends of the Falcon are student leaders who are role models for our core values of respect, responsibility, and resilience. Friends of the Falcon believe in a positive school climate that is welcoming, accepting, and supportive.

Project 351: Jill Sferrazza and Justin Machie are enthusiastic and hardworking student representatives from Freetown and Lakeville for Project 351. Project 351 is an independent, non-profit organization that provides a year of unique service and civic engagement opportunities for 8th grade ambassadors from all 351 cities and towns of the commonwealth of Massachusetts. They participated in the annual launch day in January along with other town ambassadors in which they were able to discuss and celebrate the achievements of Martin Luther King, visit the JFK Library and meet governor Baker, and participate in community service for an underserved school in Boston. Also, as part of the community service mission, these two have helped to organize our school’s Cradles to Crayons Drive, which will provide children’s clothes, shoes and toys for needy families.
Freetown-Lakeville Middle School Cube Team: FLMS has been a familiar name when it comes to the world of Rubik's Cubes. For many years now, the Freetown-Lakeville Middle School has been competing in regional competitions.Teams of eight try to solve 25 Rubik's Cubes in the least amount of time.
FLMS has always been quite successful at these regional competitions, but in 2018, that's when their mark was really left in the books. Freetown-Lakeville Middle School was able to do their teams solve in just over 2 minutes and 3 seconds. That time was good enough to place FLMS in the top 10 for team solves in the entire nation!
Solving the Rubik's Cube promotes perseverance, resilience, problem solving skills, and team building skills. We have seen a tremendous increase in study habits and confidence with kids who are able to excel with the Rubik's Cube
Lego League:The Lego League is an after school program that incorporates programming robots and a project that is focused on a challenge which is based on a real world scientific topic.
In the robotics portion of Lego League, the students must design, program and test robots using Lego Mindstorms to complete multiple tasks on a playing field, trying to accumulate as many points as possible in 2 ½ minute matches.
The project portion of the Lego League is focused on a real world scientific problem. This year’s problem involved hydrodynamics - the way humans find, transport, use and dispose of water. The students had to identify a problem in the human water cycle, design a solution, and share their ideas.
The FLMS Lego League participated in our very first qualifier event this year at UMass Dartmouth in early December. Our team performed very well and earned themselves a spot in the Eastern Massachusetts FIRST Lego League Championship at Newton North High School. This competition included some of the toughest robotics teams in the state. The FLMS Lego League earned themselves a second place trophy for Teamwork!
Thank you to the "Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts - Freetown-Lakeville Education Foundation Fund" that provided a grant to help with the costs of the FLMS Lego League.
