Honoring our Lakeville Community! The Assawompset Elementary School honors the Lakeville community in many ways. This year, the school engaged in several related activities to honor our local Veterans. Below are a few pictures of the activities involving all students and staff. Flags filled the front field to the school as each student and staff member placed one to honor of all the Veterans that have served and keep us safe. Prior to the placing of the flags, each grade level engaged in an activity where various cards, banners and poems were created and then sent families and barracks of family members that were serving during the 2017 November Veteran’s Day. Local active military also came into read to classrooms as students showed their appreciation by honoring them with essays titled: Thank You for Your Service.
Local Police, Fire and Senior Citizens: Assawompset also cherishes time spent with local Lakeville fire, police and senior citizens. This year the school worked with these locals to serve them breakfast, play kickball, invite them in to read and engage in various activities, greet them at buses for High Five Fridays and simply have fun with the students during recess time. To show our respect, you will see photos of students creating flower arrangements to hand out to every senior citizen that participated in the Assawompset Senior Breakfast and in creating Care Packages that were created for the local police and fire. These care packages were provided at Christmas time to show our pride and appreciation!
