Dear FLC families,
It is hard to believe that it is May and we are starting to prepare for the close of the year. There are many fun activities to be had including Cinco de Mayo, the QU wedding, field trips, and Memorial Day. It is also a month where we evaluate our students and their growth. So a lot of work and a lot of play!
A quick note of thank you to the PTO for the generously donated benches on our property! The kids have used it for class and our staff uses it for lunch as the weather continues to improve. We really do appreciate it!
We will also have a couple of school events including our spring concert and a couple of art nights towards the end of the month.

Queridas familias FLC,
Cuesta creer que ya estamos en mayo y empezamos a prepararnos para el cierre del año. Hay muchas actividades divertidas, incluido el Cinco de Mayo, la boda la letras Q y U, excursiones y "Memorial Day". También es un mes donde evaluamos a nuestros estudiantes y su crecimiento. ¡Mucho trabajo y mucho juego!
¡Una nota rápida de agradecimiento al PTO por las mesas y bancas generosamente donados en nuestra propiedad! Los niños lo han usado con su clase y nuestro personal lo usa para el almuerzo a medida que el clima continúa mejorando. ¡Realmente lo apreciamos!

Uni-Coins For Kindness Fundraiser
Throughout the month of May, we will host our "Unicoins For Kindness" fundraiser. Students are encouraged to bring in coins and place them in their grade level bin. The grade level that collects the most coins will have a special treat on Field Day.
Durante todo el mes de mayo, organizaremos nuestra recaudación de fondos "Unicoins For Kindness". Requerimos del apoyo de nuestros estudiantes trayendo monedas para contribuir con esta causea. Mental Health Awareness Month
Mayo, mes de concientización sobre la salud mental
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Sometimes anxiety is easy to identify — like when a child is feeling nervous before a test at school. Other times anxiety in the classroom can look like something else entirely — an upset stomach, disruptive or angry behavior, or even a learning disorder. .
There are many different kinds of anxiety, which is one of the reasons it can be hard to detect in the classroom. Anxiety can manifest in physical complaints, too. If a student is having unexplained headaches, nausea, stomachaches, or even vomiting, those could be symptoms of anxiety. Other symptoms include a racing heart, sweaty palms, tense muscles, and being out of breath.
If your child experiences any of these issues, please communicate with the school nurse and guidance counselor. Reassure your child that together you are going to solve the problem and make things better. Work on relaxation techniques such as various deep breathing, meditation, and relaxation exercises.“I believe in you” is a powerful phrase for your child to hear. Talk to them about how you are confident they will overcome this and be stronger for it.

The State of New Jersey is now offering health insurance to all children up to age 18
and under. Please reach out to Casa Freehold for more information. Also as a
reminder, NJ Family Care needs to be renewed every year. You will receive a notification in the mail approximately one month prior to the expiration date. If completed in a timely manner, there should be no interruption in your health insurance coverage.

Kindness is in the air
Our students created beautiful cards to express their gratitude to our local hospital CentraState's nurses. They are learning the importance of empathy, teamwork, and the power of small gestures in making a big difference in the lives of others.
Dismissal Google Forms
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Due to the volume of dismissal change emails that our office receives daily and most importantly for safety reasons, Freehold Learning Center will require parents to fill out a Google form every time they need to make a dismissal change or sign out a student early. Effective February 5th, 2024, the Freehold Learning Center office will not accept emails regarding dismissal changes or early pick-ups. We will be sending an email with the form links every Monday. We have sent two cards home with the Google Form QR codes for easy access. Just scan it using your phone camera. Keep cards at home or in your wallet. If you need assistance filling out these forms, we have a tutorial available to guide you. Please click here.

Mrs. Friedman, a very special paraprofessional retired on November 30th, 2023. She has been a valuable member of our district for over twenty years. She was a dedicated classroom aide who cared deeply for our students. Congratulations Mrs. Friedman! We will miss you.
