FLC stands for Freehold Learning Center however through our character education program, FLC also stands for Friendship, Leadership,  Community. These are the traits we recognize and celebrate in our program.

We recognize students in our school that exemplify these character traits by naming them a  Super Student. Every Friday, music is played over our loudspeaker and our super students fly down to our cape quarters to get their bright orange cape to wear proudly all day long. They return their capes at the end of each Friday.

Our super students are celebrated at our school-wide cape ceremonies.  They have reserved seating and when it is time they recognize another student from their class by removing their own cape and attaching it to the next super student. On cape ceremony days, grade levels wear a designated t-shirt that states, (I Believe) with (FLC) in a tiger paw print. Students take the FLC pledge, sing our FLC believe song, perform our FLC chant and the gymnasium is ignited by our FLC pride.

Our cape ceremonies also celebrate students who have received tiger tickets by any staff member in our building for representing our program through showing friendship, being a leader, being a great community member, or all of the above. These students get to pick a prize from our treasure chest and have their pictures taken.

Everyone at FLC represents the qualities of friendship, leadership, and community. We celebrate our staff on cape ceremony days by hosting a (Believe Breakfast). Staff signs up to bring in a food item and we sit together that morning and enjoy the company of each other.

FLC also has a Morning Show where students report on the wonderful events that occur daily at FLC, as well as share upcoming spirit days, classroom and school-wide fundraisers, conduct interviews, share the weather, birthdays, and upcoming news that our school needs to know.

We also have 2nd grade safety patrol tiger cubs who keep our school community safe and represent FLC by being role models to our younger students at FLC.

Our character education program has brought our families, staff, and most importantly our students together as one community. Our school spirit, character education program and caring adults and staff make FLC who we are today!
