A Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment in 2024 showed that learning is among my top strengths.
I learned from my mother that as a child, I was curious all the time. For example, I read books and asked questions. I read books because I am curious to learn more. Sometimes I read more books at a time.
Reading with my mother at Langenæs Allé in Aarhus in Denmark, where we lived during the first 3 years after I was born.
My father and I reading the newspaper at our summer house at Kysing Næs South of Aarhus in Denmark.
Several people gave me positive feedback for my ability to ask questions. Some examples:
During the #initiate19 event, David Halser said to me that I ask very good questions.
During an online event via the Devonshire House Network in 2020, Paul Sloane gave me the feedback that I ask good questions.
In April 2020 Monika Stiller said to me that I ask good questions.
During a webinar in October 2021 via innov8rs, Samita Banerjee gave me the feedback that I ask wonderful questions.
During a CreativeMorning event in May 2022, Sophie Känzig Bohnen gave me the feedback via LinkedIn that I ask great questions.
Following a reinforce.ua session in March 2023, Morris Mthombeni wrote to me that I ask incisive questions.
In April 2023, Charles Barthold wrote to me that I raise great questions during McKinsey Strategy & Corporate Finance webinars.
In April 2023 Whitney Johnson wrote to me that I ask great questions.
During the #initiate19 event, Barbara Ibo said this to me: "I felt very much accepted by you. Your interest feels real and alive. I think your essence is resonating." What does resonating mean, I asked. Her feedback: "For me, resonating means perceiving vibrations in one another and responding to them. It means meeting the other person in a an open-minded way, a playful way, a harmonious and non-evaluating way - and accepting that the other person is free. It also means meeting the other person in a firm way so that something unimaginable may come out of the encounter."
When I ask people what I am good at, many people say that I am good at asking questions.
I use social media because I like to learn from other people.
When I work with a student, I encourage the student to choose as many things as possible himself / herself, for example what he / she wants to learn, when he / she wants to learn, and where he / she wants to learn. I experienced that the more initiative a student takes, the higher is learning quality.
When I write teaching materials, I like to continuously learn and improve.
Studying personality I learned that the top critical voice in my mind is the perfectionist. In my life, the strive towards perfectionism often helped me to push myself to learn. I tended to be very critical critical of myself and live in frustration and disappointment when something was not perfect enough. This way of thinking led me to push pressure on myself and learn more. Over time, I learned to prioritize physical, emotional as well as mental wellbeing, develop a more healthy learning and growth mindset and celebrate progress.
