Population served: Typically developing children aged 7-17
Setting: Community-based psychosocial setting
Occupational therapy focus: In partner with another occupational therapy student, I was tasked with engaging children at a summer camp in nature-based crafts. The purpose of these nature-themed crafts was to engage students in sensory experiences beyond what is typically offered in school and home activities. Camp Soles staff emphasized the importance of offering adventurous and tangible experiences to a generation of children whose sensory experiences are often crippled by excess electronic screen time.
