I recently graduated from Saint Francis University, where I earned my masters degree in occupational therapy, my bachelors degree in health science, and minors in psychology and environmental biology. This past year, I completed Level II fieldwork in acute care and pediatric settings. This online portfolio is a snapshot of my credentials, projects, and fieldwork experiences related to my career thus far (explore the menu above)!
I chose to study occupational therapy because I love to empower others towards independence -- despite the physical or psychosocial obstacles they face. The OT settings I love most are psychosocial & mental health OT, pediatric OT, and community-based OT. In my future, I'm interested in providing OT within underserved rural areas, due to courses I took related to environmental health and rural health systems. At Saint Francis University, located in the hills between State College and Pittsburgh, I learned much about geographical healthcare disparities that exist between rural and urban populations.
I have many passions besides OT, although many are related to the creative nature of OT. I enjoy creating many forms of art, music, and writing. I also spend much of my free time learning wellness-related practices such as QiGong, yoga, meditation, etc. My graduate thesis involved investigating the potential of Reiki to improve chronic pain. I believe health is a function of mind, body, and spirit, and that occupational therapy improves health by addressing these areas holistically.
