The impact of our EYFS curriculum is reflected in having well rounded, happy and confident children who demonstrate not only our core values but the knowledge, skills and attitudes which will make them lifelong learners and valuable members of our community. Children who have developed knowledge and skills across all areas of the curriculum and are eager to learn more. Children who are problem solvers, risk takers, speakers and listeners, think creatively and critically, demonstrate perseverance and resilience, ask questions and show kindness, love and respect.
We measure progress and children’s learning across the year through formative and summative assessment based on the staff’s knowledge of each child as well as records in class topic books and individual online profiles.
At the end of Reception, staff complete the EYFS profile for each child against the 17 early learning goals. We not only aim to exceed the National and Local Authority data for children achieving a ‘Good Level of Development’ but, ensure that children make excellent progress academically and socially so that they are well prepared for transition into Key Stage 1.
The EYFS team meet regularly to review and evaluate teaching, learning and provision and receive training inline with the needs of our staff, children, school and community. Teachers engage in both internal and external moderations and attend regular pupil progress reviews to highlight attainment and progress needs.
