Nurturing Lifelong Wellbeing for Our Children
Nurturing Lifelong Wellbeing for Our Children
We are a dedicated group of passionate individuals that come together to form the Health and Wellness Committee—designed to foster a culture of health, balance, and personal growth for every child in the community. This committee is not just a group of professionals, but a unified force of educators, health and nutrition experts, food service providers, nurses, school counselors, and community partners, all working collaboratively to promote a holistic approach to health and well-being.
Our mission is clear: to create lifelong healthy individuals by supporting the development of children in a way that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit. We recognize that health isn’t just about what children eat or how active they are; it’s also about mental well-being, emotional resilience, and the spirit of community. Our committee works to ensure that every aspect of a child’s growth is supported, encouraging habits and practices that will last a lifetime.
Through this collective effort, we aim to instill the tools and knowledge that children need to grow into healthy, balanced adults. From nutrition to physical activity, emotional resilience to mindfulness, every child in Farmington will learn the value of health as a holistic pursuit. They will carry these lessons with them—shaping the way they approach their own wellness throughout their lives.
Angela Vassar
K-12 Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department Leader
I have a deep passion for educating about the importance of healthy living, physical activity, and well-being. I am in my second year at FPS with 18 years of experience. I had the privilege of working as the Wellness Curriculum Coordinator in Region 10, where I focused on wellness curriculum that supported students.
As a lifelong mover, I am constantly seeking new ways to inspire others to make physical activity a lifelong habit. Outside of my professional life, I am married and a proud parent to three amazing children, ages 13, 11, and 8, who continually inspire me to be my best self. I’m driven by the belief that movement is key to both physical and mental health, and I’m dedicated to helping everyone develop a love for being active that lasts well beyond their school years.
I am always learning from others—whether through professional growth or personal experiences—and I find inspiration in the people I meet.
