IAR Physical Education
The goal of seventh-grade physical education is to equip students with the skills necessary for a lifelong commitment to health, physical fitness, and a well-balanced lifestyle. By focusing on a wide range of motor skills, students will acquire the capability to participate in various physical activities across their lifetimes. Developing collaborative problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities is integral to fostering overall well-being. Moreover, students will foster a deeper understanding and embrace individual differences within physical environments, recognizing their own talents, capabilities, and limitations.
The objective of eighth-grade physical education is to offer students the chance to enhance their competence in diverse motor skills by engaging in both conventional and unconventional physical activities. This includes learning fundamental fitness principles to ensure safe usage of resistance and aerobic training tools. Through employing decision-making skills and setting goals, students will develop essential abilities that serve as building blocks for a healthy and well-rounded lifestyle throughout their lives. Additionally, students will cultivate a deeper understanding and acknowledgment of individual disparities within physical activities. They will contribute to establishing a learning atmosphere centered on self-respect and fostering care for others' well-being.

Mrs. Hedberg
Hello! My journey in education began at Springfield College, where I pursued my passion for teaching physical and health education. During my senior year, I had the incredible opportunity to complete my student teaching at Farmington High School, which solidified my desire to empower students through education. Since then, I have been teaching Health and PE to 7th and 8th grade students at Irving A. Robbins. I am passionate about teaching topics like mental health and overall wellness, emphasizing the connection between the mind and body. One of the best parts of my job is getting to know my students and empowering them to discover how to live healthy lifestyles. In my free time, I enjoy being outside, going to the beach, cooking, and taking my golden retriever, Luna, on walks!
