Autism Champion and Mental Health Champion
Mrs Clark is our Autism Champion and is a key worker for our ASD students. The Bridge is a safe space for those students. Lots of students check in with Mrs Clark in the morning and at the end of school, this often helps them focus and offload at the end of a day. Mrs Dawson is our link within the ASET team and she works closely with Mrs Clark and our ASD students.
Deputy Designated Safeguard Lead
Medical Condition Lead
Mental Health Champion
Students come to the PLC to complete interventions such as Lexia, Toe by Toe or other support interventions.
Every Year 7 student will complete a Lexia assessment and may complete some interventions in here.
The number of students in the PLC changes on an hourly basis.
Students identified as needing additional 1-2-1 interventions, often around SEMD, will work with Mr Maw on bespoke programmes.
The academy uses Teaching assistants in a variety of different ways to support students and to develop their independence and scaffold progression. Our TAs carry out small group work, 1-2-1 support and interventions based around their areas of need and their outcomes.
We have:
General TAs
English as Additional Language TA
