Good afternoon,
After multiple discussions today and monitoring the weather, we will not be running this afternoon. While I always want my teams to celebrate their hard training by racing, I think it's in our best interest to not race. Many other teams have followed suit at this meet and the meet at Moeller.
The football game tonight can happen because they are able to take breaks, whereas in a 5k they cannot.
The fact is that racing in such hostile weather can cause harm to the kids in many ways, but more importantly, it won't yield data that I can use to drive our training. It's VERY hard to run well in these conditions.
To still gain this data, I am going to have them run a 2 mile time trial tomorrow. Details to come on where we will meet, but it will be at 8am.
This way, I can get the data I need, but also respect the health and safety of our most valuable assets.
Thank you for your understanding,
Coach Alessandro

Please bring water, gatorade and if you want, some cooling rags. There is no question it's going to be hot. Let's try to stay as cool as we can before and after the race.
Updated Info: Thanks for participating in the Buckeye Running Sunset Invitational. Due to the heat on Friday and the health and safety of all of our athletes, please see the revised time schedule for Friday night. We are going to have only ONE RACE PER GENDER. I am going to re-design the course so it’s wider to allow 350 athletes in each race to run more comfortably. Please help me out by going on finishtiming and taking out any participants who you know will not be racing on Friday night. Currently there is 352 boys and 350 girls entered. I will post on milesplit the course map no later than tomorrow morning. Please keep in mind that no one can go onto this private lake property and practice this week until Friday’s race. Thanks for your cooperation!
