Spanish News

In Spanish we are finishing up our last unit of the year on Sports & Leisure time activities. Vocabulary for this unit includes sports, pastimes, sports equipment, places, and expressions with time. Students are learning to say what they are doing, and also what they are going to do in their free time. Next week we will review vocabulary and grammar concepts from all the units taught in second semester as we prepare for the Final Exam.

We are encouraging students to check their grades and use a FLEX time next week to retake any test to show mastery. The Final Exam will be given in all classes on Friday, May 20; it will count as one Summative exam. Students will receive a Study Guide for the Final Exam on Monday, May 16.

Math News

8th Grade Math will be finishing up the year revisiting 2 skills we studied just before Milestone testing. This week we have reviewed triangles and Pythagorean Theorem with a summative assessment on Friday, May 13th. Next week, we will review volume of cylinders, cones and spheres and will finish the week with our last test of the year on Friday, May 20th. Students will have the opportunity during the next week to do recovery and retake any summative from the semester they choose. All study materials are located on ItsLearning and students are encouraged to begin reviewing now.

Algebra students have been working on their final summative project. Retest will be 5/17 and 5/18 during FLEX. Students will then be learning geometry prerequisites for freshman year.

Accel A studied similar figures this week to include polygons, triangles, and parallelograms. The Unit 7C test is scheduled for Friday, May 13th. We will conclude our final geometry unit next week on right triangle trigonometry and take our last test of the year on Friday, May 20th.

Science News

Hello Parents!!

As we get closer to the end of the school year, we will be switching to projects that cover our standards from this year.

The lab Final: This is a lab based activity that will test the students ability to run experiments and then write about those experiments using the high school lab report rubric as a guide. This project is due on May 25th.

As we near the end of the year, We ask that all students review their grades and check for missing assignments. All make-up tests and missing work must be turned in by May 17th in order to give the teachers time to grade each assignment.

We would like to send a huge thank you to each and everyone of our parents for all of the support that you all have shown throughout this year. You are AMAZING!!!

Thanks,

8th Grade Science Team
