The Percussion class is designed to help students develop as well-rounded percussionists through three progressive classes: Beginning Percussion, Intermediate Percussion, and Advanced Percussion. Each class focuses on building technical skills, musical understanding, and ensemble performance experience.
Beginning Percussion introduces students to the fundamentals of percussion, including proper technique, rhythmic reading, counting, stick control, keyboard percussion basics, and performance skills on a variety of percussion instruments.
Intermediate Percussion builds on these foundational skills with more advanced rhythms, keyboard techniques, ensemble playing, musical interpretation, and improved consistency and musicianship.
Advanced Percussion is intended for experienced percussionists and focuses on advanced technical skills, musical expression, leadership, and high-level ensemble performance across multiple percussion areas.
Percussion Ensemble allows students to perform percussion music in small and large groups while developing timing, listening, balance, and ensemble skills through rehearsals and performances. Each class rehearses these pieces apart from the full band with Ms. Caroline.
Indoor Drumline is a competitive performance ensemble that combines marching percussion and visual performance. Students develop technical skills, coordination, teamwork, and performance experience throughout the spring season. It is like marching band, but inside, with no woodwinds, brass, or color guard!
