Color guard is a performance activity that combines dance, movement, and equipment work with flags, rifles, and sabers. They perform with the marching band during football games, parades, and competitions. Members learn choreography, timing, teamwork, and performance techniques while expressing music through visual movement. Color guard helps students build confidence, discipline, coordination, and leadership skills. It is an actual class at Denmark!
Winter Guard is an indoor performance activity that is color guard but performed without a marching band, usually in a gym or indoor arena. Groups create choreographed shows using flags, rifles, sabers, dance, and props set to recorded music. It is a competitive activity where groups are judged on technique, creativity, synchronization, and overall performance. At Denmark High School we have a Varsity and Junior Varsity Winter Guard!
