The links below all contain ideas for science extensions. Some are content specific and others are general science enrichment. Please don't be overwhelmed by the choices. Perot Museum Whynauts - Bring the wonders of the Perot Museum to your classroom through a new, interactive education series.
National Geographic - It's National Geographic! Search for your current unit of study for tons of enrichment project ideas.
How Stuff Works - This website is dedicated to explaining how everything works. You can explore what's on the homepage or search for specific topics. Each video or article provides way more detail than most people would probably ever want.
TPSP Tasks for 5-8 - TPSP = Texas Performance Standards Projects. This link will take you directly to the high school grade band. From there, choose your subject and explore all the projects they have to offer. Keep in mind, these projects are intended to take weeks to months to complete and follow the complete research and presentation cycle.
UCAR Center for Science Education - Specific to weather and climate learning, this site is full of lesson ideas. Of particular interest are the teaching "boxes" which are complete units of study around various weather phenomena.
PhET Simulations - Interactive simulations that help students visualize abstract concepts or concepts that are too small, big, fast, or slow to be observed with human eyes.
Biology Simulations - Helps students to learn about biology and practice data analysis skills. These simulations allow students to experiment with concepts that may take too much time or too many resources to complete in a traditional science lab setting.
Science Friday - Science Friday partners with educators and scientists to create free STEM activities, lessons, and resources for all learners.
The Kids Should See This - Webby award-winning collection of over 5,000 kid-friendly videos, curated for teachers and parents who want to share smarter, more meaningful media in the classroom and at home.
Byrdseed Science - Science tasks and questions that will get your students’ brains sweating.
Code.org - A great option for students getting started on coding on their own. They'll learn the fundamentals of computer science with drag & drop blocks and create their own drawings and games.
