Digital Literacy

The Digital Literacy classes are the perfect opportunity to gain access and proficiency in the digital world. Students develop skills that allow them to utilize various computer applications that enable them to become more competitive when finding a new job, help their children with school homework, and navigate social media responsibly.

Here’s how classes work:

  • Participants are pre-tested to determine their digital literacy proficiency level and are placed in a class appropriate for them (basic or high-intermediate).

  • Students meet once a week for a 90-minute intensive training session.

  • Each class lasts 12 weeks.

  • Classes are small (between 7-10 students) so that participants receive as much personalized instruction as possible.

  • After completing each class, students are evaluated to determine their progress.

Digital Literacy classes include remote learning basics (Zoom, Google Classroom), word processing applications (Google Docs, Online typing software at GCFGlobal), creating presentations, creating a family budget on Google Spreadsheets, social media applications, email services –and even learning how to scan and prepare documents to file taxes.
