Social Analysis

Throughout all forms of social media, there is some sort of abuse happening and being documented. For example sex trafficking, cyberbullying, and child pornography. In Hillary Back’s article about the threats that children can have on social media, she states eight threats. “Child predators, scams, including identity theft schemes, inappropriate and dangerous content, sharing posts they’ll regret later, misinformation, Harassment, Social Media addiction, and Exposure to targeted ads and marketing.” Early exposure to social media for children causes a lot of potentially dangerous outcomes. In my first two papers, I discussed how the parents were the ones responsible for exploiting their children which is true and has been proven. It is not only the parents that are exploiting their children, their children are exploiting themselves without having either any knowledge or permission of usage to social media. These children do not know how dangerous social media can be and how it can lead to dangerous situations.

Children are being mentally, verbally, and publicly abused for the sake of views, popularity, and money for family vlogging channels. Social justice is about a fair balance in the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges within a society where individuals' rights are recognized and protected. The role that society plays in this issue is both good and bad. Half of the viewers are trying to bring this issue into the light and the other half are feeding into it and not understanding the root of the problem. In these channels, the parents are the ones who are benefiting from the job, not the kids. When a child is growing up their life typically revolves around school, their friends, and enjoying their childhood. With the way that technology is so heavily advanced and used by everyone in some sort of way daily, it makes public humiliation and bullying easier for the children involved.
