1099-B, 1099-DIV

Income and/or Gains & Losses from Investments

If you had income or losses related to investments (Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, etc) this income or loss will be reported to you on forms such as: 

• 1099-B used by brokers or barter exchanges

• 1099-DIV - used by banks and other financial institutions to report dividends and other distributions to taxpayers and to the IRS.

• 1099-INT - Interest earned as a result of investment activity.  

If relevant, these forms will be provided to you. You will receive the completed form(s); you don't complete them yourself. There will be information on the form that must be used in completing your tax return. 

For nonresident return filers that have investment income or losses, you will report those amounts on 1040NR, Sch NEC.
