Students face an array of challenges throughout adolescence. It's crucial that each student is given the tools to support their mental health. As a licensed clinical mental health counselor, my goal is to teach students how to cope with emotions and prevent conditions like depression, anxiety, and substance misuse.
I focus on three areas of student wellbeing including:
Emotion regulation (i.e., how to reduce painful emotions and feel better)
Distress tolerance (i.e., how to tolerate big emotions without making a situation worse)
Mindfulness
Interpersonal Effectiveness (i.e., how to be effective when working with others)
