Student Assistance Program (SAP)
Student Assistance Program (SAP)
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is modeled after the Employee Assistance Program often found at many jobs. The role of the SAP counselor is to assist any students in whatever mental health issue may arise in their lives. SAP counselors provide prevention education to classrooms, facilitate groups, offer training to staff and parents, and work with administrators in developing and updating policies.
SAP counselors are an extension of the school counseling program. They work closely with school counselors, administrators, families, teachers, and students to help all students achieve the best outcomes. SAP counselors are not limited in who they can meet with. They can meet with all students! SAP counselors often work with students on mental health issues and substance use prevention to ensure they are successful at school.
