Nathan Bingle, Photographer The world of photography has always intrigued me. However, my career started off in the kitchen. For about 15 years I worked in restaurants and casinos. Shelly David, American Airlines Pilot, and her husband, Randy Poropatich, FAA, were interviewed at CRHS by students Ian and Alex, who hope to be pilots. Shelly & Randy have been civilian aviators their entire careers. Their 1st flight lessons were at their local airport in Pittsburgh where they acquired the required certificates/ratings to become instructors.  After acquiring about 1500 hours, they moved onto the regionals. Randy flew for a company in DC, and Shelly stayed local.  Randy flew for 2 different regionals as well as NetJets before being hired at USAirways. After being furloughed after 9/11 and flying corporate for a few years, he was hired by America West, out of Phoenix AZ. After many years on the road (commuting), he elected to transition to the FAA where he is currently employed. This FAA avenue has lead to many different opportunities that are aviation related but don’t directly involve flying or being away from home.  After flying for several years at the commuters, Shelly entered the training department, which allowed her to be home enough to raise 2 children while maintaining involvement in the flying world. Most recently,  she returned to “line flying” at AA after being an instructor pilot for 20 years.
