The return to school this year will be unlike any other in our history and will be emotionally charged for students and adults. This moment will call on all members or our school communities to deepen our social and emotional competencies and create equitable learning environments where all students and adults process, heal, and thrive. CASEL’s five core social and emotional competencies, situated within the contexts of classrooms, schools, and communities, may feel familiar to many educators, but take on deeper significance as we navigate a very different type of schooling (CASEL).
